Great Bear Carbon

The Situation

Great Bear Carbon Credit Corporation (GBCCC), an Indigenous-led organization, faced the challenge of standing out in a crowded carbon credit market. The market often prioritized cost and technology over sustainability and culture. GBCCC aims to protect Indigenous territories through carbon offset initiatives while promoting reconciliation and environmental stewardship. But to make this resonate with audiences, they needed a brand that told their story, beyond the single page about them on the Great Bear Business Corporation website. A further challenge was creating assets that differentiated GBCCC from its stakeholders, the Coastal First Nations while still illustrating the link between them.

The Process

We refreshed GBCCC’s brand with a new logo, colour palette, and typography, that reflects who they are and their values. These new assets balance tradition and sustainability, incorporating the CFN logo within the new GBC logo to create a connection and a distinction. We designed promotional templates and brand guidelines to support GBCCC’s storytelling, focusing on its projects' cultural and environmental co-benefits.

The Results

With a new brand and digital presence, GBCCC became able to communicate its value effectively and position itself in the carbon credit marketplace. The new branding and website helped potential buyers find them and buy directly through GBCCC instead of through a third party.

The result is greater engagement, deeper understanding, and a well-positioned brand that helps ensure that benefits flow directly back to the First Nations.
